The American International School of Guangzhou is seeking a part-time Secondary School Substitute Teacher / Educational Assistant for Grades 6–12. Applicants must currently reside in Guangzhou.
The role provides short- or long-term cover when regular teachers or teaching assistants are unavailable. Assignments depend on the successful candidate’s experience and scheduling needs. Classes have 8–22 students. A typical day includes four 85-minute periods and a 10-minute morning homeroom. Long-term placements include planning time and require lesson preparation aligned with current units of study.
Responsibilities include supervising break and lunch duties on rotation; supporting one or two student-led evening events per semester; differentiating instruction and assessment; maintaining records of student progress; assessing academic, social and emotional growth; integrating classroom technology and research and information-literacy skills; and, for longer placements, communicating with teachers, department heads, administrators and parents.
AISG prioritises fully qualified, trained teachers with relevant experience. Candidates are subject to criminal-background, employment and reference checks.
