I worked as an English language and History tutor at this school. While I was there I found that the organization itself should focus on its initial vision of being a math focused institution. The management themselves very clearly had not had much experience in running a English language program. I was not given any guidance as to what each student needed since the management themselves did not know how to help. Their idea of "managing" the department was to give out mock TOEFL and SAT exams and to hope for the best. There were no text books to work with or materials to glean from; only me and the students who were expected to articulate what they were struggling with. The history department was much the same, eventually what the lessons devolved into was me going over how to outline a study plan and repeating the students history lesson to them in hopes that they would understand the lesson a second time. The biggest issue I had was with the dishonesty in management. On location they continued to book me for classes, but behind the scenes they had reported to my agent that I was not a good fit and they would not be paying him for scouting me. This all came to a head when my agent contacted me about my time there and asked if I had proof of my work schedule. Eventually they paid him but only after my agent had a copy of my work schedule and he threatened to seek legal counsel against them. The untrustworthy behavior left a bad impression on me for the institution moreso than the mismanagement of the division. If you do decide to work for them, keep two things in mind. Make sure you have a copy of your high school SAT, ACT, or other standardized test many of us have not even thought about in years. You will be sat in a room for your first few days and tested if you can't provide your high school standardized testing. The second and most important; keep detailed records of your work schedule and pay. They have tried to get out of paying dues before and I see no reason why they wouldn't try to again.
